Shop My Outfit:
Happy 2017! Derek and I had an eventful weekend filled with a Josh Abbott Band concert (my favorite Texas country group) and celebrated New Years Eve at my friend Meredith’s 30th birthday celebration. I even whipped up some of my favorite Texas Caviar to get my black-eyed pea fix for New Years day. Now that it’s 2017 it’s back to regular scheduled work, workouts and eating. Does any one else feel like a stuffed sausage after all the holiday treats?
I couldn’t think of better way to start off 2017 on the blog then with this floral blouse. When I shop I typically like to look for pieces that can be dressed up for work or dressed down for the weekend. This top is one of those pieces that I fell in love with because it’s seriously so pretty and feminine. It has amazing details such as the dainty bow tie neckline and the ladder stitching up the front. With how warm the weather is here in Houston it is also great to have chiffon pieces of clothing so you aren’t constantly so hot. If you work in a formal environment, you could tuck this shirt into a skirt or pair it with slacks. I fortunately work in a pretty laid pack environment and could wear this outfit to work with flats or more manageable heels. You will definitely get your bang for your buck with this top, as it is under $50. That’s a winner in my book.
While I focus on affordable fashion mostly on my blog (I am ALL about finding a deal), I every now and then splurge and purchase a big item. My heels I purchased two years ago with part of my Christmas bonus and I just purchased this purse with money I had been saving from selling clothes on Poshmark. I have always been a shoe and handbag kind of girl and both of these items were things I had wanted for a long time. While they may seem frivolous to some, these are things that I have worked hard and saved for. I mean Cinderella is proof that a shoe can change your life right?
