It’s Rosé season y’all!
Don’t get me wrong, champagne and prosecco will always be my first love, but there is just something about a cold glass of Rosé that I love during the summer. Whether you like it or not, there is no doubt that this lovely pink beverage has become a summer time staple and a favorite of many wine lovers. It is so popular that some restaurants have even created Frosé – frozen rosé….which I must add, is equally delicious and perfect for a hot day.
So you might ask, what exactly is rosé? Rosé is NOT a mixture of red and white wine grapes as many would think. It is actually made when red grapes are lightly crushed and left to soak with their skins for a short period of time, usually only two to three days. This process is called maceration. Also, unlike red wine, rosé does not go through an aging process and this is what gives it the light, fruity taste we all crave during the summer.
This light refreshing flavor pairs well with just about any food from seafood to BBQ and lets face it, it goes down REALLY easy. I would even call it my summer time water! There are plenty of inexpensive varieties that taste just as great as their more expensive sister version.
SO above are my top 8 picks under $25 so you can drink rosé all day and not hurt your bank account. There are even included two sparkling rosé versions in case you need some bubbles in your life. I am by no means a wine expert so I won’t break down the flavors for you but I do work with a sommelier and some of these bottles he recommended to me. I can say that I do tend to gravitate to a dryer and lighter color rosé. All of these rosés have been taste tested except White Girl Rosé – they don’t sell it in Texas but I just love the label and have heard it is delicious. Does anyone from up north want to send me some?! Bet you didn’t know that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are the makers of Mirval Rosé. Who would have thought?!
