With a blog name of “Champagneista” it is pretty obvious that I LOVE champagne. I am the girl who believes “Always keep a bottle of champagne in the fridge for special occasions. Sometimes the special occasion is having a bottle of champagne in the fridge.” I couldn’t have said it any better Hester Browne! One problem with Champagne is that the “good stuff” is typically pricey. Fortunately, you can find some great options for sparkling wine/prosecco that are under $20. These are all great options that you can find at the grocery store or your local liquor store. With the holidays quickly approaching, you don’t want go to a party with out some bubbles! If it can’t be Veuve, Piper or Dom, these are my recommendations that won’t break the bank!
A quick lesson on the difference between champagne and prosecco. Champagne is French and can only be made in the Champagne region in France. Prosecco is Italian, and can only be made in the Veneto region in the Northwest. Champagne and prosecco are also made from different grapes. Champagne is made primarily from chardonnay, pinot noir and pinot meunier grapes while prosecco is mainly made from the prosecco or glera grape. The way prosecco is made is what makes it a more cost effective option.
Now grab a bottle and drink up! Cheers!
